The event was organized by the department of social disciplines and psychology of the Educational and Research Institute of Law and Innovative Education of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs. The class in the discipline “History of Psychology” for students of the study group Bd-S4-26-1 was conducted by the associate professor of the department Oleksii Sheviakov.
The invited speaker was a practical psychologist, hypnotherapist and business trainer Oleksii Cherednichenko, who in his work combines psychocorrection, trance techniques and breathing practices.
The event was conducted in the format of a brainstorming session and discussion. The students, together with the guest, compared the historical stages of the development of science — from the ideas about the soul in ancient times and the treatise of Aristotle to the laboratory of Wilhelm Wundt and the directions of the 20th century — with who a psychologist is today.
The boundaries of the profession, the difference from psychiatry, the competences of a specialist, ethical requirements and the significance of inner elaboration for future practice were also discussed.
Such an approach to conducting the class gave the first-year students the opportunity to connect the material of the discipline with live consultative work and to see the profession through the eyes of a practitioner.
