NEWS

As part of the courses “Police Officer Actions at the Scene” and “Criminalistics,” first-, third-, and fourth-year students attended classes conducted with the participation of expert psychologists from the Donetsk Research Forensic and Criminalistics Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The lectures and practical sessions were conducted by Olena Slipets, Head of the Department, and Yuliia Chupryna, Chief Forensic Expert. The events were organized by the Department of Criminalistics and First Aid Training of the university.

The specialists shared their practical experience and drew the future police officers’ attention to the psychological aspects of interacting with children during pre-trial investigations. Particular attention was paid to interviewing minors and juveniles. The participants discussed requirements for safeguarding children’s rights, statutory time limits, and psychological recommendations that must be followed when conducting this procedural action.

In addition, the expert psychologists highlighted problematic aspects related to the appointment of psychological examinations and explained what should be taken into account when preparing the relevant materials. Classes of this kind help future law enforcement officers develop practical skills for working with vulnerable groups and gain a better understanding of the psychological aspects of their professional activities.
