NEWS

Visitors to Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs learned about the university’s educational opportunities, facilities and resources, as well as the opportunities it offers for professional, academic, creative and athletic development.

The official part of the event began in the conference hall, where prospective students met with representatives of the Admissions Committee and the university’s administration. Volodymyr Kovbasa, Assistant to the Rector, welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the university combines a solid theoretical foundation with practical training, providing students with the opportunity to develop the professional competencies essential for future careers in law enforcement.

Prospective students and their parents were introduced to the university, its organizational structure and its professional training opportunities. They learned about the work of its institutes and faculties, the specializations and academic programs available, and the university’s facilities and technical resources. Particular attention was paid to the requirements and specific procedures for the 2027 admissions campaign. Representatives of the Admissions Committee and heads of university departments answered visitors’ questions, explained admission requirements and outlined career opportunities available to graduates.

The guests were then invited to take a guided tour of the university, visiting key facilities, training grounds and classrooms where future professionals receive hands-on training.

Prospective students visited the forensic investigation training ground and the training facility for combating organized crime and corruption, where they learned about the work of investigators and methods of gathering evidence. At the Child-Friendly Crisis Room, they were introduced to the specific approaches used when working with children who come into contact with the law enforcement system or are in conflict with the law.

The university also presented its Criminal Analysis specialization, which was introduced for the first time this year. Visitors were shown the structure and various models of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and had the opportunity to learn the basics of first aid. The tour also included an exhibition of modern weapons.

In the university’s sports hall, cadets and instructors held a practical demonstration on the proper techniques for completing the physical fitness tests required for admission.

The tour also highlighted academic programs outside the traditional law enforcement field. Visitors explored the mediation office and mock courtroom, the Computer Science learning area and the modern Cyber Arena facility. The tour concluded at the university’s psychological relaxation and stress-relief center.

Another highlight of the program was a demonstration by the Canine Unit of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Region, held on the university parade ground. Police dog handlers introduced their service dogs and demonstrated how the animals respond to commands and perform elements of specialized training.

The Open Day gave prospective students an opportunity to experience university life firsthand, explore its educational opportunities and learn more about how professionals for the law enforcement sector are trained. By combining informational sessions with guided tours and practical demonstrations, the event helped visitors gain a better understanding of cadet life and find answers to questions important for choosing their future career paths.
